I’m really excited to be exhibiting at the Country Living Christmas Fair in Islington this November. The fair is all about simple pleasures; things to make, cakes to bake, talents to nurture and gifts to give. It brings the pages of Country Living magazine to life with a huge range of makers, artisans, growers and designers bringing a little Christmas sparkle to the visitors who came in their hundreds. Nothing beats milling about and looking at the beautiful gifts available with a mulled wine and mince pie in hand… If you don’t feel festive beforehand, you certainly will afterwards! I have been preparing lots of new prints, canvasses and glittering flower paintings to exhibit and I always get excited to show new work.
Although my heart and soul is very much embedded in the countryside and in the natural beauty which surrounds me at my Devon studio, I do love to visit the city once in a while to soak up the electricity and to dip my toe in the ocean of culture for which London is renowned. I love that you can walk down a side street and stumble across the most quirkily delightful café dancing to its own beat. I love the art which presents itself within the very streets themselves; from a crystalline reflection in a wet pavement being broken by a single feather landing from above, to the streaks of neon illuminating the faces of busy shoppers as they duck and weave their way through the throng. London is inspirational in more ways than one and I wholeheartedly look forward to immersing myself in the vibrancy.
Exhibiting at the Country Living Christmas Fair
Seeing people peruse my glittery flower paintings in person and talking to them about my work is always an incredibly humbling and enlightening experience, but the Country Living Christmas Fair 2017 is extraordinary food for the soul. Last year I found it a great honour to stand among so many talented individuals at the show, which was a real buzzing hotbed of creativity. The Country Living Christmas Fair runs from 8th-12th November and is open from 10:00-17:30 or 18:00 most days, with a late opening time of 8:30pm on the Thursday. See more detail about the daily opening times here. The venue address for the Country Living Christmas Fair 2016 is 52 Upper Street, Islington, N1 0QH and I hope to see some of you there!
